Lasciati gli scribi e i farisei calunniatori, Gesù si dirige in quel di Tiro e di Sidone per curare i Tiri e i Sidoni. Quand'ecco una donna Cananea esce dalle contrade ove ella aveva dimorato fino ad allora, per ottenere colle sue grida la sanità della figlia. Osserva come la figlia della Cananea è guarita nel quindicesimo luogo. « Abbi pietà di me, Signore, figlio di David » Matt. 15,22 Se ella ha appreso a chiamarlo figlio di David, è perché era già uscita dalla sua frontiera ed aveva rinunziato all'errore dei Tiri e dei Sidoni, mutando luogo e fede.
℣. E tu, o Signore, abbi pietà di noi.
℟. Grazie a Dio.

She knew that He was to be called Son of David because she was come out of His own country, and had left the errors of the Tyrians and Sidonians when she changed her home and her faith.
