Biagio risplendeva a Sebaste nell'Armenia per ogni virtù, quando venne eletto vescovo della stessa città. Al tempo in cui Diocleziano esercitava la sua insaziabile crudeltà contro i Cristiani, si ritirò in una spelonca del monte Argeo; dove rimase finché, preso dai soldati del governatore Agricola che vi cacciavano e condotto davanti a questo magistrato fu, per suo ordine, gettato in prigione. Nel qual luogo guarì molti infermi che erano condotti a Biagio a motivo della fama della sua santità. Fra questi ci fu un bambino, il quale dato per disperato dai medici per una spina rimastagli trasversalmente nella gola, stava per morire. Biagio poi condotto due volte davanti al preside, né colle blandizie né colle minacce essendosi potuto indurre a sacrificare agl'idoli, fu prima battuto con verghe, poi straziato sull'eculeo con pettini di ferro; da ultimo, tronca la testa, diede una illustre testimonianza della sua fede a Cristo, il 3 di Febbraio.

This Blaise was chosen Bishop of the city of Sebaste in Armenia, in which place he enjoyed a great reputation for virtue. When Diocletian began to make the Christians the objects of his insatiable cruelty, the Saint hid himself in a cave on Mount Argaeus, where he lay till he was found by some of the soldiers of Agricolaus the governor, who were out hunting. He was brought before the governor, who commanded him to be thrown into irons. While he was in prison, Blaise healed many of the sick, who were brought to him on account of his reputation of saintliness, and among others a boy who had been despaired of by the physicians, and who was at the point of death, from a fish bone which had become fixed in his throat. Blaise appeared twice before the governor, but neither cajolements nor threats could induce him to sacrifice to the gods. He was first beaten with rods, and afterwards put on the rack, where his flesh was mangled with iron combs. At last his head was cut off, whereby he finished a noble testimony to the faith which is in Christ our Lord. He bore witness on the 3rd day of February, (in the year of salvation 316).

Sant'Andréa Corsini, dell'Ordine dei Carmelitani, Vescovo di Fiésole e Confessore, il cui giorno natalizio si celebra il sei Gennaio.
A Roma sant'Eutichio Martire, che compì un illustre martirio, e fu sepolto nel cimitero di Callisto. Il suo sepolcro fu ornato poi con versi da san Dàmaso Papa.
A Tmui, in Egitto, la passione del beato Filéa, Vescovo della medesima città, e di Filorómo, Tribuno dei soldati, i quali, nella persecuzione di Diocleziano, non lasciandosi persuadere dai parenti e dagli amici a conservare la vita, off erto il collo alla spada, meritarono ambedue dal Signore le palme. Martyrology {anticipated}
On the morrow we keep the feast of the holy Confessor Andrew Corsini, (from 1360 to 1373,) Bishop of Fiesole, of whom mention is made upon the 6th day of January.
February 4th 2026, the 16th day of the Moon, were born into the better life:

At Rome, the holy martyr Eutychius, who gained an illustrious martyrdom and is buried in the cemetery of Callistus. Holy Pope Damasus adorned his grave with some verses.
At Fossambrono, the holy martyrs Aquilinus, Geminus, Gelasius, Magnus, and Donatus.
At Thmuis, in Egypt, (about the year 308,) the blessed martyr Philaeas, Bishop of that city, and Philoromus, Tribune of the troops, who in the persecution under the Emperor Diocletian could not be persuaded by their kinsfolk and friends to have pity on themselves, but stretched forth their necks and won palm branches of victory from the Lord's hand and a countless multitude of the faithful of the same city, following after the example of their shepherd, were likewise crowned with martyrdom.
On the same day, (in the year 888,) holy Rembert, Bishop of Bremen.
At Troyes, the holy Confessor Aventinus, (about the year 538.)

In the town of Amatrice, in the diocese of Reate, (in the year 1612,) the holy Confessor Joseph of Leonissa, of the Order of Friars Minors Capuchins, who suffered much from the Mohammedans for his preaching of the faith, and was famous for his apostolic labours and his miracles whose name the Supreme Pontiff Benedict XIV. enrolled among those of the holy confessors.
